Very sensible of you to take it on a 100km test drive. Some people drive around the block a couple of times and then report here how well their car goes and how reliable it is. It takes about 30-40 minutes
of steady driving before that engine has evenly warmed. I'm talking about the lump of steel, not the water. Whenever I did some major work on mine, engine ,gearbox, overdrive etc I used to drive it on the
M1 from Beenleigh to the Sunshine Coast, have a cuppa and go back. I hope yours turns out to be as reliable as mine. Congratulations!

Wal, will come for a drive to Beauy, when I get brave
Found no Ethanol 91, in Murwillumbah.
And my Land Rover Mate owns the small servo, South Murwillumbah.
So a couple of questions. Will I have to do anything to the Timing ????
Will the Carby need re Tuning ????
    Thanks.

I'm convinced the amount of thought and refurbishment that has gone into this vehicle will ensure Mr Whitehillbilly has an almost brand new vehicle, and it will drive and perform as well as it did when it first left the dealers back in the day.

I like to think about the first owner and their experiences of my refurbed 2a when I take it for a blat

Great result and great thread, cans, stubbies or long necks, hhmm

Can't answer that question as I don't monitor fuel usage on any of our vehicles

My 2a with a 2.25 made it from Cann River to Cooma over the mountains on two 10 gallon tanks.....kept thinking I'd need to stop for fuel but didn't need to, so trip was done non stop which really increased my confidence in the vehicle.

Also only need choke on the frostiest winter mornings to start, other wise first press it starts
(Holden stromberg carbie very easy to tune)

Just googled Cann to Cooma 175klm maybe they are thirsty never really thought about it, can't remember if I did it on one tank or two I was enjoying the drive to much

    Cheers Paul

From my experience (long time ago) with the swb 2.25 petrol, fuel consumption is very dependent on your right foot. Driven carefully, around 15l/100km, but easy to get up round 18-20.

Certainly would not have achieved finishing Gilbert with out all members help.
Still a few little teething problems, but sorting them out.

As you may or may not know, Homestar and I had a little wager, who would finish first. Guess who won ????
But I feel I had an advantage, with all the help given, just to let ME win.
So I think it is only fair, I share my winnings with all those that have contributed, over the last 4 1/2 years, 16 Oct 2014, when Gilbert first arrived.
What I purpose is to Have Gav hold the Carton of Toohey Old, ( may not be the same one, he likes OLD ) Until we ALL get chance to meet up, at a gathering down the Track, and share my winnings.
I am going to try and head South for a future event, so only seems fitting to celebrate together.

Sorry mate, a bit late to reply here. Your offer is generous and accepted. I’ll happily buy a carton at whatever time for whoever’s consumption. 😇👍

If you feel you can’t get to a function where I’ll be at any point, let me know and the original offer still stands, a bet is a bet and you won it fair and square. 👍
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
