    Thanks Phil,
Will look at changing the 3 brake hoses.
Had the ignition on yesterday, knocked one of the wiper arms with a rag, and......... they started to wipe.
I went in and turned the switch off, then on again and all works
    But only one speed.
Does the series 3 wiper switch only have one speed ????
or does the switch have another position, before I try and force it, thought I should ask.
where should I get the blade assembly from, would supercheap/ repco have these ????
    Thanks for the replies.

I think the early ones were single speed, and I know that 1981 models in Australia were two speed - and two speed wipers were listed in the optional equipment catalogue. So the answer would seem to be it could be either one or two speed. The two speed will be a rotary switch.

There are two types of blade fitted, take one to supercheap/Repco, you may be lucky, especially if it is the later type with a hooked arm, but even then you may have trouble finding one short enough. Otherwise, any of the specialiust suppliers should have them, such as All Four X 4 for your area.

x2 John's reply. Early models only have a single speed.

The speed is governed by the windings in the wiper motor so converting to 2 speed will mean a new (County or early Defender) wiper motor and a new switch plus wiring. Not a big job but fairly expensive (+-$200) and fiddly (part of the dash has to come off to get to the wiper motor).
Get the hook type arm if you can. They dont fall off.

My 1980 is a single speed. Pretty sure my 1975 is too. I wish I had a 2 speed....

Wiper arms... I'd doubt that supercheap have whole assembly but worth a phone call I guess. Plus you've just reminded me of another job I need to do.

    Thanks for the replies.
Had another look at the switch. Single speed.
Another question, re Seat belts. Does the 77 Series 3, has hard top fitted, but Plated as soft top, have retractable seatbelts, or only the lap belts, which are fitted to Gilbert.
If retractable belts are fitted, where do they attach ????
Saw a 77 series 3 "Game" at Murwillumbah show yesterday.
It had non standard Bucket type seats fitted. Gilbert has these type of seats fitted, which may have been in it when he was Registered in 2005.
How are members going when Registering Land rovers, with non original seats fitted in NSW.
    Thanks
