Once the Tub was off, I found a couple of small problems.
Bent rear hanger and burnt wiring.
The burnt wires were inside the rear of the chassis.
No wonder some of the rear lights didn't work !!!!
would you attempt to straighten it, or leave it as it is ????
Also a stamped number appeared on the rear Diff. Is this the norm ????

Gilbert is getting a bit harder to drive.
No fuel tank, and feels like I am in a Hotrod.

I'd be inclined to straighten it - there has been a discussion on how to do this in another build thread, but I can't remember which one.

All Series Landrovers have serial numbers on both axle housings. They are not the same as the chassis number.

As for mud in the chassis have a look at the thread on here where Harry is tidying up a series chassis (Just bought a 2A). Also in the same thread there is mention of a paint that is guaranteed for decades.

So with other projects out the way, back to Gilbert.
3 hoses from the fuel filler.
Filler, breather but what is the other one.

Both the guards are off.
Pillar bolts undone easy, but 2 were under a bent guard. 2 1/2 hrs later, they are out.
mud guards will need some repair.
Can see footwells and pillars better.
Think I will try and fit new ones, I think HoHars makes them up.

Front dumb irons look a bit rough,
so some pics and the front end of the other chassis I want to add.
I have done a couple of cut out and weld spots, and have to plate up the two front sections.

The fuel breather is a hose that goes between a pipe on the filler and a pipe on top of the tank - I'm guessing that is the 'extra' bit of hose. The tank actually breaths through the cap.
