I've got a Stage 1 ISUZU and there are certain parts, as already discussed, that are hard to get (don't forget steering box & steering relay). So, this is one I picked up recently (literally) from a wreckers

It cost $1000 but I've already saved close to that on the bits that it has donated - not to mention the fun I've had disassembling it

IMBO (in my biased opinion) these are great vehicles. So, go for it! but look for another one for spares

Some more pics.Radiator is stuffed.Apparently was running and driving fine, till starter motor died.I remember the owner ringing me asking if i had one.Chassis seems fine.Fuel tank looks like aftermarket, filler is welded to tank with gussets, but i don,t know.Head lining looks good.Only body damage is bump on right wing front which has put a small tear where wing joins front panel. No other body damage that i can see.Apart from rust looks ok.Will be restoring it and keeping it as original as i can, despite my urge to upgrade things

Finally dragged it home today and tried to clean 5 years of grime off it.Po had been spraying heaps of sump oil underneath.Going to take a lot of degreaser to clean it off.Couple of questions for the brains trust. While i'm sure its a stage one, compliance plate has 04 80 and 109"and 3.5 after it,i can't find or see where there has been a v8 badge. Also the heater intake is body coloured[could be a respray],i always thought they were black. Also headlight surrounds are silver, thought they were black also.Bear in mind my series knowledge is nowhere near my rangie classic knowledge.

All Stage 1 were either 3.5 V8 or 3.9 diesel. And the four was 2.25 (petrol or diesel) and the six 2.6. So if the plate says 3.5, it is a Stage 1 V8. Stage 1 are also easily identifiable by the LT95 gearbox, which may be familiar from your Rangerover knowledge. The other differences are mostly not that obvious to the untutored eye.

As far as I can remember no Stage 1 ever had a V8 badge.

I think all Series 3 headlight surrounds were silver, although some may have been body coloured. But the black, as far as I remember, only came with the change to plastic surrounds on the 110.
