    Series 3 stage 1 4BD1 cab chassis 1982

Thought I'd just post a few pics. Right click and open in new tab for full size.

Anyone register their vehicles with Land Rover Stage 1 V8

Main issue is left and right rusted front cab support outriggers, the rust having also gone through the chassis wall where the outriggers mount.

Not sure I paid too much for this stage 1. I paid seven times what I paid for my last RRC which cost me $100 running

The VIN says it's a V8, but in lettering above the VIN says 4cyl diesel. Understand they were flat packed from UK without the V8. On arrival Land Rover Aust put the diesel in.

Notice in the pommy mags whenever they go on about the stage 1 they never mention the diesel - well not that I've noticed. Time for an article?

Will fix the rusted chassis and find a tray for it. For the moment use it as a fire tender on the property.

Guy I bought it off said it belonged to his grandfather who bought it new. He said in those days your rego plate number was also your house street number. So if you did something wrong and thought you got away with it the police would visit all the houses with that number in the area, to catch you out.

Stage 1's are rather thin on the ground and sought after, especially the 3.9D.

Yes, you were done. $700. But good news, your pain is my pain. I'll send you $700 and you can send me the treasure....er....pile of rubbish you have acquired.

Really, she's a beaut and will do up nicely. There are some Stage 1 bits that are peculiar to Stage 1's only and, as said in the link you have posted, they are the ultimate Series.

    Great project, and great price.
I paid a fair bit more than that for just the engine/gbox from one....

Looks like a Defender grille has been fitted.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

The diesel Stage 1 is unique to Australia, and considered by most to be the ultimate Series Landrover. The fitting of this engine seems to have been undertaken as a precursor to the Perentie project for the ADF. There never were all that many of them, and good examples are rare.
