    Clutch Replacement Checklist

    Hello Series III Owners,

Hopefully when my tax return comes back I will be replacing the clutch plate and pressure plate in my 109 inch Series III. The kit I am scoping out includes:

    • clutch and pressure plates
    • and throwout bearing.
    • I will also be getting a clutch alignment tool.

I replaced the clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder + the flexible hose about a year ago. I have new hydraulic fluid.

Are there things like bushes that go on the yoke and should the yoke itself be replaced?

What other parts than what is in the clutch kit should be on the shopping list?

I would like to have everything available so I can do the job in one go so the vehicle can move under its own power again after just one session.

Oh, BTW this will be my first solo clutch replacement.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    Hi Lionel,
Best clutch alignment tool is the input shaft from an old gearbox but it can be done with a piece of dowel wrapped with tape to get the right sizes into the bush and the clutch plate. It may be worth replacing the bush in the back of the crank shaft as well.
    Cheers,

    Spigot bush.
Flywheel may need surfacing if it is scored.
Good opportunity to check the ring gear on the flywheel and replace it if needed (or you can remove it and turn it over then refit it).
Check the rear main engine seal is not leaking oil.

    Cheers, Mick.
