    Air cleaner seal

There is an "O" ring around the base of the air cleaner, mine is stuffed, any suggestions? I have had a bit of a search and found nothing.

I ran a couple of turns of teflon pipe tape round mine, seems to have dealt with the seeping oil OK. Have a talk to any bearing supply shop, most of them can make O-rings to specification - if you describe what it is for, preferably bring in the aircleaner (minus oil) they should be able to help.

    Hi Bob,
I am in the process of doing up my air cleaner.
Today I pulled it apart, and noticed the gasket, which is cork, had started to break apart.

I am going to the local bearing shop to see if they have a square section 'O' ring that may fit. Sizes to suit will be available, according to the website below.
Allied Seals Orings, Cord Stock, Square, Lathe, Spliced, Viton
I washed the Gauze parts, in petrol, then hot soapy water, and spent the next 2 hrs blowing and picking out of the lower section about 50 small grass seeds.
    Now all clean and painted
Do have to get a new cleaner to carby rubber hose, as mine tore apart as I checked to see if it was perished.

    Hi Bob,
got a plain 'O' ring today.
    BS260.
Seemed to clip together ok, but a few months until I find out if it worked.
