I was having a browse at information about the Zenith Stromberg CD 175 that a couple of my 2.6 litre engines have. I came across a thread that has some very good close-up photographs and clear descriptions. The thread describes how to replace the "O" ring that prevents the dash-pot oil from disappearing. The thread opens with the comment... "Among the greatest mysteries about Zenith Stromberg carburettors is exactly: “where does the dash-pot oil go?"

I hope it is of some interest to you. The thread is about the use of the Stromberg carburettor in a Triumph, so it is not Land Rover specific by any means.
