Thread: SIII Binding Brakes

Hi All


I've got an issue with the brakes on my SIII shorty. It wasn't used for a couple of months and when I took it out the pedal seemed unusually hard with limited travel. And as soon as I got on the road I had serious binding issues on all four wheels. Thought it must by master cylinder and was going to put a new kit through it but when I disconnected it seemed to be fine - good travel, no leaks, etc. - and ended up not taking it out and putting the new kit until I was convinced thats the problem.
So I need some advice on what else it might be. I haven't yet checked all the wheel cylinders but seems strange that all four are binding to greater or lesser extent. The brake fluid hasn't been flushed in the 4 years I've had it and who knows how long before that.

a bit of rust in the drums that needed to ne polished off. a bit of mouister in the lines and master, thus a bit of rust slowing down the return.

dirty fluid and a bit of muck in the master and slaves.

probably a combination of all of the above.


get another resavor cap, and plumb it into a weedsparyer. to bled all your lines, like put about 2 ltrs though it
