Fitted the series 2 door tops to Bert today, just to stop the rain getting in.
Collected a couple of good one a couple of months ago.
Anyone fitted series 3 window locks to a series 2 door top.
Have a couple of series 2 window locks to add to the top of the door if to hard.
Anyone found a alternative to Bailey channel. Folded glued felt ???? Notice companies online make them for Holden and Fords. Also Clarke rubber does some types.
Also will try my local wrecking yard.
Also gave Bert a good hose out, and the outside a Gurney, to see how good the panels were.
Years of mud on a Banana farm.
Whilst scrapping the mud out of the front edge of the dash pocket, I found another key.
Tried the passenger door but the key would not go in the slot.
Tried the driver side, it went in but did nothing.
Hit it with some Inox and gently twisted the key forward and back. More Inox more twisting and slowly mm by mm the key started to move.
15 mins and the key locks the driverside door.
Around to the passenger lock. More Inox then mm by mm in and out, the key went in. 20 mins later I have a key that locks both doors.
Noticed the ignition one even has GM stamped to the key.
Off to Mr Minute to get some spares cut.

I love it when you find a bit of treasure in amongst the muck, especially if its useful. That's a major part of the fun for me when you bring a new one home - finding what's behind the dash , under the mats etc.
    cheers,

Berts rear lens are a push in and twist chrome collar type.
What lens do I need to look for, and best price online.
The ones I look at are attached with small screws.
I also have a full set of S/H Defender ones, but need the correct socket for them, to attach them to the loom. Any ideas ????
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
Noticed water sitting in No 4 plug hole.
Not sure if its sitting from washing last weekend, or its coming from somewhere else.
When I got Bert, no 4 plug was quite corroded, so changed it.
    Any ideas ????

It would have to be from washing the motor unless there is an external crack in the cylinder head. Has the water/coolant level dropped at all. Put coolant in the system and then see if you end up with coolant around the plug. Dry it off with an air hose then run the motor till reaches running temp then check the plug hole a few hours later. Or do a pressure test and see if it leaks around the area.
    Good Luck.

    Cheers, Mick.

The series chassis is quite simple, cant you weld up the problem areas?

    Thanks for the replies.
Whole chassis is a problem area.
You should see the springs !!!!!
Will try and get some pics.
    Compression tested motor.
    No1 140psi
    No2 137
    No3 140
    No4 145, all dry, plugs out, 1 and 4 were clean. 2 and 3 were sooty ????

    Full Throttle????
To ensure the cylinders get an adequate amount of air to compress.
You may have noticed a diesel always fires up quicker with the throttle open about 1/3

    Cheers, Mick.
