I have used a couple of poly bushes in my 86". After blowing out the inner sleeve and rubber with heat (LPG flame), I ended up leaving the original bush outer sleeve in the chassis and cutting the poly bush down slightly to fit the slightly smaller diameter. I can't remember which brand they were. The vehicle does not get a lot of use but they have been in there for at least 5 years now.

I don't rate Britpart rubber products, but if you steer clear of those, they do make some good stuff in amongst the junk.
I'm not sure that Britpart actually make anything.....it's all outsourced. I'm sure Bearmach and the others use some of the same suppliers.Quote:

If you order from the UK the 'country of origin' is listed on the documentation. Mostly India, some China and a couple of items on my last order were from the UK !!! I'd have to dig the paperwork out to confirm what items they were.
One word of caution if fitting the rubber bushes. Don't lubricate the outside of the bushes fitted into the spring eyes. The bush gets clamped but the spring can slide on the bush outer casing and you get a horrible clonking on corners. Don't ask how I found out.......

Been busy lately cleaning up the axle housing, diff and one of the swivel hubs. (Doing one at a time so can use the other as a reference when I forget how it goes back together [emoji1]). Lots of time with the wire wheel and degreaser and plenty of elbow grease. Finished painting tonight. All the bearings are fine and will be reused and have all new seals and gaskets ready to install.

Also after all my fun with the bushes I decided to get poly bushes for the sole reason of ease of installation. I ordered a bearmach kit only to find that the supplier could not source them. They could however supply the britpart kit. We'll see how they go I guess. I did however get the black polybushes. My series 3 2.25D is not fast enough for the yellow ones[emoji1]

A little bit more progress yesterday. Fitted the diff and started on the left hub. Does the bearing inside the swivel ball require greasing or does it get its lubrication from the oil when it's filled up? I doesn't really say in the manual. Also what tension should the nuts be that secure the diff to the axle housing this is not listed in the manual as well.

The bearing that supports the axle? I think that bearing will be oiled from the diff, but I greased mine anyway. Not sure if that's the right thing to do or not.
No idea about the tension on those bolts - tight enough so they don't come loose. :D
I only ever break a tension wrench out for head bolts...:angel:
The front axle support bearing is oiled by the swivel housing oil as there is a seal between the diff housing and the swivel ball. The bearing is on the swivel ball so is outside the actual diff oil. Best to grease the bearing on assembly as a precaution. The wheel bearings are greased as well, as the felt seal on the end of the axle (not sure about this for s3) sort of prevents the swivel housing oil or liquid grease which ever u use from migrating to the wheel bearings....mostly...lol.

Cleaned up the RH side hub/swivel assembly parts tonight and gave them a coat of paint. The wire wheel on the angle grinder wore out before I finished the hub so that still needs to be done. Spent a good couple minutes removing stray wires from my jeans [emoji2].
While waiting for the primer to dry I fitted the free wheeling hub on the LH side. I got a service kit for the AVM hub. Comes with new gaskets, orings, felt washers, nuts and new bolts. But the coolest part is you get new stickers [emoji106]

I also bought these extractors of gumtree today. The seller said they were off a 2.25 petrol hopefully they fit the diesel as well. For $40 it's worth a crack
