Rebuild time

Yes a trailer shop for centre bolts or even just turn your own up if you have access to a lathe. As for the clamps they are easy enough to make and I think they are riveted on, so get some "black" rivets from an engineering shop. Ideally the clamps should have been heated to straighten them to avoid them fracturing. Places that repair agricultural machinery like vineyard cutter bars, etc. are bound to have them. If you have trouble getting them let me know as I can get some here for you.

Thanks mick. My mate from work is turning up some bolts for the centre bolts and said he can knock up some rivets as well for the new clamps.

Spent a few hours today cleaning up the chassis with a flap disc in preparation for blasting and paint. My God the amount of weld splatter from the factory is terrible. 😮

I know what you mean by weld splatter as my 71 2A is the same. It is covered in it and when I was repainting the chassis I started chipping it off, but eventually gave up. It was obviously after they went to mig welding as the other earlier 2A (1964) I am playing around with has nil.

Yep, I only got as far as cleaning up the rear crossmember as that's all that will be seen without crawling under it. :D

Blasted and primed the chassis 2 weeks ago. My Bro in law put the top coat on today. Looks pretty good I reckon.

Hi Guys. I have been busy lately with the fun job of dismantling the springs and refurbishing them. I cleaned up each leaf with the flap disc on the angle grinder then I sprayed some of this stuff bewteen each leaf then wiped it over to give it a film like coverting. CRC Gel-TAC. Read so many different opinions on weather to paint/lube etc on leaf springs. Hopefully this will be ok.

Just need to paint the outside of them now they are reassembled and fit the new bushes. With the new bushes should i be applying some grease or anit- seize type product to assist with installing and future removal

I used some never seize on the new bushes I installed recently - anything that makes life easier next time is a bonus IMO. :).

Spent this evening cleaning up the shed in preparation for getting the chassis back. Also got some new suspension bits in the post today. Here's a pic of the new goodies plus some freshly painted parts as well as my refurbished springs that still need to be painted.

The chalk I marked which front spring was left and right has come off. Is there a way I can figure our which is which?

No real major issues I'm aware of hopefully just needs a good clean and the seals/gaskets replaced. The chrome balls appear to be in very good condition. I the brakes cylinders were all replaced and drums machined less than 200 km ago as well

Was hoping to pick up the chassis tomorrow arvo but we are supposed to be getting a super storm here in SA so might be wise to wait until that passes

I am only guessing, but the drivers side will be a touch higher?
