If you run into dramas, there are places around that understand the roadworthy requirements of older vehicles - one such place is in Ballarat - let me know if you want details.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    Update:

Replace the carby and replace thw gasket on the adaptor. So more leaks now.

Replace the coil and dizzy with the new one. Check the plug and has good spark.

Engine still refused to start. It crank and now I car hear a bit of like back fire sound. Looks like its about to start but no for some reasons. Should I replace the spark plug too?

How do I check the valve if its leaking?

Check ignition timing and check that plug leads are on the right plugs.

Yes we did but not sure whether we did it correctly (moving distributor left/right).

Did a compression test when the engine was cold they all are getting around 70 for all of them.

According to the book, if that is psi, it is far too low - should be 145-170 depending on the compression ratio. But it will vary according to the cranking speed; these figures are for the normal starter cranking speed.

If the compression really is that low, it may account for the lack of starting, and you need to investigate why it is that low. I can't remember if you have had the head off to look at the internals.

Low compression is usually due to piston rings/bore wear, or leaking valves. but if leaking valves, one would expect the readings to be less uniform.

And they may be low because the starter is turning the engine very slowly for some reason. Another possibility, if the engine has not run for a long time, could be that the cylinder walls are completely unlubricated. To check this, put a couple of teaspoons of engine oil in each plug hole, and recheck the compression. If it now looks good, try starting again.
