You mean the switch that goes on top of the pedal box ? thats the brake light switch. part no 575166 .

Theres a hole on the bottom of the booster , its for a vacuum warning switch on a diesel . blanked off on petrol models.

the 'genuine lucas' 575166 you get now are absolute crap , Britpart are probably better . I went through one every few months (daily driving) until I got sick of it and adapted a Nissan Navara reversing switch to the lucarse part, been faultless since.

Sorry you are right on top of the booster.

I got one from British car with part number 589223 but the brake light is on if the switch is pressed. Is will 575166 make the brake lights on when the switch is release?

no, brake lights should come on when switch is pressed, either type. Sounds like you have a piece missing from inside your pedal box , a hingey thing rides on top of the pedal arm which contacts the switch and reverses the action.

I don't think they are the same, but I think they will bolt on - it is so long since I have seen a Defender without a bullbar, I can't be sure!

    I think they are wider.
May look OK, someone fitted one to a Series I (which is narrower than a III) and it didn''t look right.

Anyone has or can post a picture of the good bonnet frame of your series 3? Mine is badly damage and there is a hole on top right hand side on the bonnet. I think previous owner might have use it for the connect the snorkle. I am not sure whether I should keep and fix the frame or get a good replacement bonnet. Thanks.
