The highback ones that were optional on late S3 are more comfortable, but not as handy getting stuff from behind the seats.

Seats are now sorted thanks to Brian, and they DO HAVE the pin at the bottom, presuming that is accurate?

I also have sourced a Fairey Capstan Winch with all the goodies too, so the car will have that in time.

i'd love to add some pictures here, but despite some attempt to show me, I really can't work out how to add a picture from my phone to this system.

I don't have the car yet, but it will be delivered one evening early next week! Very exciting indeed.

I have sourced a truck cab top, and it requires a FULL rubber kit, including (i presume) window channel rubber. Is there one place to go to get a kit with all the rubber for this?

Cheers,

Adam

OK,

Spent the weekend stripping back the Truck Cab I bought and then primed it. I came up with the following questions in the process, if anyone is able to advise.

1) does anybody have the factory paint colour code for the light green early 70's cars? I have received the off-white wheel / roof colour, but require the body colour code. Presume this is best in Dulon Acrylic paint also?

2) can anybody supply me (or tell me where to buy) genuine felt for the window channels in truck cab? Note I have an early type cab top with the double sliding glass, set in galvanised / screwed in place channels. I note there is absolutely NO rust in these channels or screws, but the felt is missing at the bottom. Need about 2.5m to do bottom & side rails (tops are OK).

3) Does anybody have a set of the 'window catches' as used in these windows? Mine are missing, and

4) Does anybody have one of the stainless steel 'sliders' that affix beneath the glass on the window frame so as to allow the window catches to slide, and lock into place. I note there should be TWO of these stainless sliders (my word), but there is one missing.

Many thanks,

Adam

The colour is probably Spanish Olive, which was used across the entire range of Leyland vehicles. Google Leyland Spanish Olive and you will find plenty of examples. The Leyland Code is 15417. It came in Dulon and Acran. I had a local paint shop eye match a piece of my S3 and they went pretty close. I have that formula but can't access it as it is at my shed and we are locked up in Melbourne. The following is lifted from a post by Grommit of 27 June 2013:

"I got a rattle can of Spanish Olive made up by Autobarn yesterday.

Hopefully this might help someone get a match in the future.

The formulation was as follows :-

Code 15417 volume 1 litre
Tinter Description Weight
NM04 Bright Gold 503.28
NM31 White 417.7
NM01 Black Tinter 122.25
NM15 Green 32.6
The job sheet does not mention a base colour or the weight units and they used 1/10 of the amount to make up the spray can.
I'm sure a paint specialist would know if you gave them the above data."

Regards,
Alan

Since the details posted by aussearcher I visited an old established paint shop who had Spanish Olive listed in an old paint book and mixed it no problem. This colour was a Leyland std. colour and appeared on Mini's, Rovers. P76's. Google Spanish Olive Leyland and look at the images to get an idea if it's the colour you're after.

Are these the normal channel sections, just the felt covering has rotted/weathered off leaving behind the galvanised steel ? The felt wasn't a separate item.

I think these are the same as Station Wagon rear sliding windows. Difficult to find and can be very expensive.

You might have to try and find one from a vehicle being wrecked. Seem to be the same part as the Station Wagon windows.

Hello from Brisbane.

It had been my understanding that the early SWB S3 trucks were not painted in Spanish Olive. I had thought that this colour was introduced later in the S3 run and is a darker "yellowish" hue, as the olive name implies, than the lighter green that is being asked about.

Could be wrong - wouldn't be the first time.

Hi Neil,

Yes can confirm my car is NOT Spanish Green. I believe the car I own (and sorry - I still cannot get to the point where I can post a picture on this forum) si the same colour as that done with the last 'Heritage' SWB LR in 2016.

If you look up Aussie delivered cars on the web, it's just that light green, I think someone referred to it as 'wildlfe green' or similar.

Called up a Dulon acrylic supplier yesterday and sourced the genuine 'Limestone LRC007' paint for the roof and wheels, so that is one thing ticked off the list.

Cheers all, and THANK-YOU for the invaluable assistance!!!

Adam

p.s - DOES anybody have a chunk of old Birmabirhgt they can send me? I need this (apparently) for when I do the Ally Welding of various holes in the body. I believe we need to clean this and make the welding rods from BB to get the match perfect.

Adam,

Hello again.

You will often hear the colour that you are referring to being described as as "wildlife green" or "parks green" because it is similar to the colour that was used by NSW Parks & Wildlife on their vehicle fleet. However, I'm not sure that this colour moniker means much outside local Land Rover circles. Actually, I'm not sure that it isn't a slightly darker shade of green than was used by Leyland on the early S3 trucks.

To add to the confusion, if you Google "Spanish Olive Land Rover", as I did earlier, none of the photos that popped up were of Spanish Olive coloured trucks. In fact, when you follow the link that a previous post has given to light pastel green the truck in the photo is also one of the "Spanish Olive" trucks from the Google search.

A bit like "duck egg blue"..............

Cheers,

Neil
