Rear seats for a Series III? Watch eBay and wreckers. You should be able to pick some up. Mine were $20 each sans lower squabs from Pick and Payless.

Exmoor trim = good but $$$

    Wiring diagramme

In my Haynes manual the wiring diagramme for Series III vehicles has two letter colour codes, such as "RW" and "GR" and under the legend it states that the second letter of the codes is the "tracer colour." Does anybody know what this means please?

Edit: It's OK, found this: http://www.peterrenn.co.uk/archive4.html

Great page for old English car tinkerers!

Only problem is, I guessed that the tracer colour might a second thin line as seen on many wires, but the ones indicated on my wiring diagramme don't have the thin lines even though they have two letter colour codes... !

The tracer is usually a thin line of a different colour on the wire, as you suggest. But sometimes the tracer has completely faded! Another problem can be where the wire is cloth covered, in which case the tracer can be a speckling of the cloth, which again, can fade.

In some cases, but I can't remember seeing it on a Landrover, the tracer is a coloured sleeve on the connector at the end of the single coloured wire.

Thanks John. Interestingly, the body I have put on this 1977 chassis has wiring without tracers to the rear of the car, as far as I can see. Outside the engine bay it's in pretty good nick and seems to be all solid colours, which is OK but nowhere near as useful as the tracer policy. In the engine bay it's got tracers. However, in the engine bay it needs replacing except in the large bunches from the firewall, I think. Too much of it is hard and cracked.

Anybody who where I can find various coloured wire without spending a fortune? Ideally somebody would sell a "restore" kit with a couple of metres of 10 or 15 different colour combos...

    Cheers,
    Lane.

I don't know of any place - maybe in the UK? You can buy complete looms locally, but they tend to be expensive, reflecting the amount of labour involved, plus the need to buy reels of a wide variety of different wire types.

    Window rubber

    Chazza,

For the side rear windows the rubber from Clark Rubber is called "Glazing Channel 1.6/4.5mm" and it is $11.25 per meter. I needed 13m so it cost me $146. Ouch.

    Cheers,
    Lane.

When I repainted my 2a several years ago, by far the largest cost was bits of rubber - channel, seals, grommets etc. Amounted to over half the total cost of the job. Bits of rubber are expensive, and there are a lot of them!
