    Seat Belt Mounting

    Gday All,
Well Ive been slowly plodding away on the series 3 (still...lol).

Fitting seat belts atm but wondering if anyone knows what size bolts go into the captive nuts top and bottom? I want to get new high tensile bolts, but dont have the old ones and dont know the size.

Also if anyone has a pic or description on where the mounts for buckles and center lap are between the seats that would be good as i cant seem to see where they are and was just going to bolt through the floor with steel plate either side???

Let the fountain of knowledge come forth :-)....
    Cheers, Josh

Series 2a/3 Optional Equipment Parts Book is your friend. There are several different versions used, not sure which ones are approved for Australia. Late S3 had a steel strap back to the body support bracket above the chassis.

Never gave it a thought because whatever size it is is standard across all seatbelts and continues to this day. I've only ever replaced existing with new, and the bolts fit.

    Gday,

Dmmos - Pictures would be great... Cheers.

JDNSW - Where can I find the parts book? I looked in the manual I have but it had little useful information.

scrambler - Im using seatbelts out of my sierra. The bolts from that are a different size... slightly. They will screw in but wont tighten???

Im after the size bolt for the captive nut on the bracket near the door and the triangular bracket that is part of the hard top.

I cant see a bracket anywhere for the center lap sash or buckles so I guess ill just bolt through the floor unless Dmmos's pics can shed some light.

    Cheers, Josh

On my desk? Probably does not help though. Mine came from Four Wheel drives in Melbourne, but it is likely to be available from any of the suppliers, or probably any of the online bookstores.

Parts books are useful for a lot more than looking up part numbers - they have a lot more and in many cases better, pictures than the workshop manual.

Sorry for the wait, I'll have them up asap (and measure them) - I know the feeling :s

    Hi mate,

Sorry about that - I've attached some pictures, hopefully they help...

I haven't had time to check the bolt size, for what it's worth the nut on top (shown) is 19mm (3/4 inch).

AAAGH! The picture is horrible - I don't have my camera (no flash :s), bugger!

    I'll do it again soon...

Ok, I have to fit some lap belts too...and not wanting to start a new post...i'll continue with this one. So, the size of the bolts required are...?? (mention is made of defender seat belt bolts - you can use these? is this correct?)

I have the optional parts cat, and the bolts required are part number 383805. but no mention is made anywhere of the size.....
