    Series IIa on SeriesIII Chassis

Interested to know how a Series IIa 109 will go onto a Series III 109 Chassis, are there any little changes that need to be done? Has somebody done this before?Just in the thinking stage at the moment.
Looking forward to your comments, you guys are a wealth of knowledge and save us all from some mistakes we could make.

All the chassis attachments are the same.

Don't know if WA will refer back to the ADR current at the time of the SIII, however the metal dash, windscreen fixings and narrow headlamps (if present on the SIIa) do not comply with ADR relevant to SIII chassis.

Why don't you go all the way and put a SIIa body on a coil RRC chassis or better still an EAS RRC chassis.

    Just a thought.

You could likely put an SIIa body on a very early 1971 RR 2 door chassis without any ADR issues, but try using a 94 RRc chassis and you'll never get the metal dash to comply.

And why you could only do it on a pre-ADR 1970/71 RR

As the others say - technically, it is a spanner job, no problems.

But legally is another matter. The vehicle has the identity of its chassis, which means it becomes a Series 3. It will have to meet the ADRs that the Series 3 did, which will vary a bit depending on the date of the chassis. The major points to change from the Series 2a to Series 3 will be the door hinges, windscreen hinges, headlights if the 2a had the narrow set ones, and the padded dash. Depending on the date of the chassis other rules could include fresh air heater, dual braking system, antiburst door locks, stricter emission controls, inertia reel seat belts, and probably a few others I have not thought of.
