PTOs
hello i am just wondering what PTOs have you run and from where, i have a capstan and a drum out the back i just need to change the shaft to fit my 80' as it was used on a stage 1.
Some photos would be great of them in use.
also does anyone know where we could get some parts for these besides ebay?
also also we are missing the shaft that drives the capstan, does anyone know where we could get one?
Thanks Tony

When I had the PTO on my series the (brand new) kit I bought was missing shafts and unis. I sourced/had them made by Powauto, Powauto .

Hey Tony,
My 2a has a PTO made by Shute Upton Engineering Brisbane, powering a front drum winch which isn't on it any more (the PTO is).

I have been meaning to take it off for ages, refurb the winch and probably sell it all complete. It all turned over, but all of the seals were shot.

Cheers,
Sam

I picked up one of the ultra-rare bottom PTO units the other day.... I know, I know - pictures, right? I'll need a bit of computery-camera-type help to do that, and I'll get to it asap.
I've seen plenty of short nose Land Rover units, and a good few Shute-Upton and Thomas units, but, as yet, no long-nose Land Rover units (the ones used to drive welders and compressors by belts). I also only know the whereabouts of one example of the 90 degree adapter for the rear to drive the wide canvas belts (for sawbenches, chaff- cutters, etc).
Dan.

PTO uses/ options - air compressor
As I mentioned earlier I have a (forward) PTO on my S3. I've been thinking about buying a 4wd air compressor (one of those ones 12V ones) but it just occurred to me today that MAYBE I could buy/bodge up an air compressor off the PTO! how sweeeeeet would that be?
Has anyone done this???? can I get picks/designs etc?
OR
Does anyone know where I can get one? I know right, what a silly question!
The idea would be to have it bolted in there so I can disengage it when not in use. Have it plumbed to the back of the car so I can just plug in a hose to pump tyres, air beds.... etc. Could even have an air tank bolted under the car somewhere to make it even more snazzy.
Any ideas would be appreciated
