    Sandblaster

My old sandblaster, who I thought have retired, has moved into a shed across the road
3, series 3 rims being done tomorrow morning, then being Galvanised maybe at the end of the week, to match the other two I have.
Just over a $ a kg to get them done.

That's pretty handy. I'd pay that in preference to doing the rims myself - which I will be next week, but I have to fix my mates sand blaster first.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    Hi, H
blasted and gal will work out about $34 a wheel.
The gal process is hot dip an hung, not spun, so finish my need touching up a bit.
The other two I got hold of, all ready done looks like the may have been spun dry.
Don't know much about the gal process, just something about spinning, was mentioned on another recent post.

They usually only spin small pieces , rims would be too large for centrifuge. Some times when steel is sand blasted the galv will have a dull finish also if thr steel has a high silicon content the finish will be dull.

    They were actually bead blasted,
so had a dull matt finish when done.
You say this will make the gal dull, as that is the finish on the others I bought.
Pics in maybe a week or two, when done.
One rim after blasting, had an obvious seam visible.
    Is this common.
    Pics of seam, to follow.
Just have to decide what to shoe them in. 235/85/16 or 7.50r/16's ????
    Thanks

Usualy the welds will be pronounced after galv, they tend to attract more zinc. If the steel has a large content of silicon the galv can look almost black..
