    300 tdi front wheel bearing

The bearing lock nut on the front drivers wheel keep backing off despite having fitted a new locking tab washer. So much so that there is noticable play in wheel when rocked. Also there is a very slight vibration caused by wheel movement when braking slowly. How can I keep the bearings nipped up when I can't keep the nut from backing off? Jim

300tdi should be - thick washer over bearing, bearing nut, bend over washer, lock washer. Lock washer gets bent over in both directions.

Td5 has a single nut that has to be done up

Everything is in the correct order, it's just that the nuts work loose somehow. Jim

Is the lock washer locating in the stub axle correctly?

Have the bearings been replaced recently (thinking that the cones weren't fitted fully home)?

Haven't actually checked the bearings yet. When I nip them up they seem to run freely with no noise, but I suppose it might be a good place to start. Jim

Or someone used the lock washer with the tab on it rather than the one with the flat section and it is spinning around thrashing out the stub axle threads?
