I believe there is a special bracket that holds it on the front of the drivers seat base....a genuine LR part I think.
cheers
Ever since my brother's life was saved by a quick thinking motorist with a fire extinguisher, I have carried one in the car.
In the Disco, the fire extinguisher is currently shoved under the driver's seat. I don't like this. It often rolls out under the feet of my 8 year old son. And I have nightmares about being in a collision and it going airborne and smashing one of my boy's skulls.
Do you carry a fire extinguisher? Is it secured? If so, how have you secured it?
Maybe this belongs in the general threads, but I thought I'd ask here first.
Thanks in advance.

They should come with a bracket that can be secured. The better the brand the better the bracket usually. You can also get securing devices that are suitable and multi use. I think Dolium suppy the Fist type in Australia then there are the Pod type but they are much more expensive but worth it.
Great to have an extinguisher but they do need to be secured.
Hope this helps and I dont think it is an offence to mention the supplier but if it is and if it is removed PM me and I will send you the details.
Cheers

SubscriberYou are dead right about them being hard to mount. I have had a new 1.5kg extinguisher sitting around in my garage for 4 months. I figured the slightly larger size to be more useful, but it is even harder to locate.
It is going into the Disco finally, and will probably be mounted on the lower cargo barrier, and only accessed from the rear via the tailgate. Yes, not entirely satisfactory, but better than not carrying one. The other potential spot is under one of the rear seats.

Thanks everyone, I wasn't aware of those brackets. Wonder what has happenned to ours? Will look into it.
Dry Powder mounted against the Driver's seat horizontally, so it can be grabbed from outside by others in an emergency as well as the driver (the driver may be a bit dopey after a collision)
It get's taken out on a regular basis & banged hard against a tyre to keep the charge loose & not allowed to compact itself.
On the side, but just watch out for the correct seat slide operation & any wires or pipes underneath.

I'd comment on this thread but since I own two Volvo's as well as my Disco I had better not..
