    General Grabbers or coopers

Looking and a few new tires before a trip. One worn GG AT2 and two with small splits in sidewalls. I put 40000km on them after buying the D3 secondhand. Not so keen on the spilts in the sidewalls but the tires seem to have gone a fair distance before I got the car as well. It had a wangler road tire as a spare. Assume the wangeler comes with the car new.

While looking at coopers I was offerd 4 2nd hand General g AT2 tires. Apparently lots of D3 owners with 18"rims are changing over to other brands and the unused spare tires were offered to me at a decent price.

If your looking to save a few dollars you might like to try this at your local coopers dealer Gues some people do not rotate the tires much!

Got my new- second hand tires and 4 wheel alignment at Bulleen Tire power. Nice chaps, shame their hoist broke with my D3 stuck up near the roof all day Apparently one of the four emergancy lowering bits on hoist broke stoped them lowering it manually. DOH

    Are you sure about that????

But I agree - I've not had a good run with Coopers. Sucked in by the advertising!

    stuck on a hoist

Poor gents trying to do the wheel alignment!! Cannot get the parts to fix it and cannot get it down. My car left on top. Lateral thinking saw them get a tow truck back it up to the hoist and drive my d3 onto the truck

    Barcrusher boats or coopers?

It is funny looking at the good reports for coopers along with the many bad reports. The two tears in my General Grabber AT2 were inflicted by some fairly tough 4wd tracks. It is hard comparing tires with out having them on the same car over the same ground. Two jackaroos with cooper’s tires travelled over the same tracks and did not get any sidewall tears. could have been my poor driving of course. Guess if I search your posts I will find out why you two love coopers so much?

Two sets of Cooper ATRs on my Touareg and now one on my D3. They work for me.

I've not got any evidence, apart from the "love/hate" responses, but wonder if this is due to quality control issues. This means that you could get a good set or a bad set.

    Best Wishes,

    Could not agree more.

The AT2 General Grabber is a very nice tyre. I prefer Maxis these days, but I would still go AT2's without hesitation.

    Cheers
