Anyone got the cubby box fridge ?

And if so, is it any good / worth having ?

Only there's a group buy on Disco3.co.uk at the moment with Nick at Yeovil Land Rover knocking them out for £160 and I'm wondering whether it's worth getting one. I've asked Nick if he'll ship one out to Oz and for how much.

    Hey mate,

    I've got one in mine- it's good for those times when you want to have a couple of cold drinks when driving around, pick up a small amount of meat etc on you way home. Obviously no replacement for the 12v fridges but a nice add on. Some considerations;
    - fits 4 beer / 600ml water bottles OR I think it is 6 cans.
    - a rubber lid which sits in and if you want to maxamise space I take it out to fit.
    - it only runs when the car is on and for about 1 min after you turn the car off.
    - takes a little while to cool, maybe 30min???
    - cools better when you have 4 bottles in there to keep them tight up against the elements

Are they worth it? ...to me yes they are, if you go on a long drive over a hour they will cool down to a reasonable drinking temperature cans of Pepsi etc. Or keep cold ones really cold and that is excellent for not having to stop at shops or to stop and open the Evakool fridge in the back while driving.

It also holds a 2 litre ice cream container and keeps the ice cream solid for at least 1 hour. I found this out from first hand expererience at Christmas when we went camping.

Ours stays on for quite some time after turning off the car, even though I have not checked I'd guess maybe 30 minutes or possibly even longer.

At that price I woud buy one beyond a doubt.

    cheers,
    Terry

It would save me going to the back of the car, sliding my fridge out, and reaching in for a cool one. I leave my fridge on permanently and always has cool refreshments at hand, but having them in the front sounds like a good idea to me.....just wire it to the second battery.

Nope, but would like one to keep a few up front rather than all in the fridge in the back....

If it works to get shipped to Aust. (And fit the D4) I would Be keen

As above - I'd be in for 2 if it was to work out.

Has anyone wired their existing fridge up to a second battery? I'd get far more use and satisfaction from mine if it was.

How is it installed.....does it just go inside the existing box or is it a whole replacement ?

    I am certainly interested.
