MY WAGON new toy

Well i brought a series 2a wagon its a 72 one of the last..Its the first wagon ive owned ..Some pics..



















It has a holden 253 4.2 V8 & a nissan cabstar gearbox..needs a little work for engineering then rego..

I brought it off John (drifter) from on here..

Finaly moved it into the yard today.



Took the flares off





Took the steps off





Going to take these freewheeling hubs off & just put drive flanges on which i have in the shed..



Not sure whats going on with the wheelnuts.I'mguessing they are the short type.Any ideas.





The baulkhead has been cut on the sides for the V8 .I dont like the way its been done so will probably redo ..





Duel exhaust YAY sounds great to..



HHHHMMMMMMM mite need a tune up..

I'm on my 10th landy & yet i'm still learning..I did'nt know the rear side doors where one peice i thought they had door tops aswell.Learnin new things every day..



Havin fun with it tho..

Brakes dont work to well & it doesnt freely roll down the driveway so id say its got laggin shoes..& the steering is so damn heavy ive never felt one like it before , Lucky i putting power steering on it..Dont like the Grill so will replace it with the old one off the series 3 tray back im building as its getting a stage one front end..throwing the seats out & going to make them flip backwards to get into the batteries.Making rock sliders same as whats on the green one..

I would love that Landy, it looks great and I bet it sounds great. I like the Idea of a 253 Series. I reckon it would make a great Dual Cab.

OK a bit of an update..

WEDNESDAY

install the pool





Also started to make the bits for the power steering..

The plates cut to size



The plates drilled



Crush tubes cut



Found the bracket in the shed i need for the power steering pump.




I have made the plates for the wagon PLUS two extra sets of everything as im going this time..Have ordered the 4140 for the drag link..Will start on the steering column over the weekend..So i will have 2 extra power steering conversions over when i;m finished..
I think the leaks on the front drivers door is the rubbers..Which i will be replacing with defender rubbers all round..
Also going to mod the spare wheel carrier that came with it aswell so it opens the same way as the door & will be attached to the door so just opens with the door..

OK now the BIG question..SPRINGS..
Ive had nothing but trouble with spring in the past.the ones on the green one are only 3 years old & just about completely FLAT.& it has the military longer shackles on the back & it sits on its arse & i hate the look of it.
I have the same spring fitted to Harry aswell so i know when thats finished its going to sit on its arse aswell so will have to change them to..

The car should sit LEVEL or a little higher in the arse.
So my question is WHATS THE DIFFERANCE BETWEEN STAGE ONE V8 WAGON SPRINGS & SERIES 2 TO 3 SPRINGS..is it just that the stage one springs have more of an arch or are they longer ??????..
We will be using the wagon as an everyday car & also our camping touring car so will be loaded up & pulling a loaded camper aswell sometimes..I dont have the money to suffarse around with differant springs till i find the right ones.I WILL NOT BE USING THE SAME ONES AS WHATS ON HARRY OR THE GREEN ONE..Anyone have any ideas cause im listening..


King springs??

Heavy duty springs ??

Parabolics ??? mite be outa my price range as i'll need shocks with them

Reset ??? I'm worried that they will colaps in a short time cost more in the end.& thats dearer then what i paid for the new ones on the green one..

Iron man ?? do they even still make leaf springs
