Rear Air

Hi,
Just about to pay a deposit on a new Discovery 4, dealer has two options for me, one with rear air and one without. Obviously the rear air adds a bit to the price. Does anyone have a Disco 4 without and find it ok? I have four kids so I am worried I will really regret it if i go without it. The car is such a good price though. Don't know what to do. Any help appreciated.

Having done a lot touring around northern aus in a vehicle without rear air (Prado) and now with our D3 I wouldn't go without rear air. I guess the same is true for colder climates. I do 90% of the driving so I can only go by the moans'n'groans of the passengers, which usually was 2 adults + 1 toddler in the back. No complaints on the last trip from Darwin to Cairns.

How do you find the Disco compared to the Prado? We have never owned a Land Rover before but I have always wanted one.

Thanks for the answer. That was my gut feeling. My current car (Pajero) has it and we use it a lot. Anyways I just ordered the one with. Super excited! Am I allowed to recommend dealers on here or is that a bit of a no-no? He was just so nice and helpful to me and the one that I didn't buy would be an awesome deal for someone who has no kids and doesn't need rear air.

Ok cool. If anyone in NSW is looking for a new Disco 4 TDv6 Chris at Trivett Parramatta has a black demo (registered 2 weeks ago no kms) it has been optioned with tech pak (including nav), stereo upgrade, zenon lights, 7 seats and ebony leather. It is a beautiful car and Chris is an awesome dealer, tell him Nicola sent you and I guarantee you won't be disappointed with the deal. The only reason We didn't buy it was because it doesn't have the rear air and we have four kids so use the third row all the time. He was so good to us though and his price was so unbelievably good I actually felt bad for not buying it. We ended up buying a blue one from Trivett Alexandria. Anyway I would love to help Chris out by sending some customers his way. Would not normally go out of my way to reccomend a car dealer but he was exceptionally good.

I have rear air con and my boys love it the fact that they can control the settings to what suits them keeps them that little bit quieter and doesn't that make for better trips lol

And congrats on the purchase. We too came from a Prado that had rear air and was a condition on the purchase of the land rover.
I have now experienced sitting in the very back row and must say aircon is definitely needed. It was a bit uncomfortable till I asked for some air, its a shame the rear windows don't open as this would help.

When we did trips to the NT, my kids didn't complain about the lack of rear AC when it was their turn to sit in the back of the LWB Series III.

They didn't even complain about the fact that there was no AC in the front either.

They also seemed quite happy without a DVD player, cup holders, electrically heated seats, power windows and all those other things that people can't manage without now.

Vehicles have changed in the last 30 years. Maybe kids have too.
