    Defender Insurance

    It's that time again!
I'm currently with AAMI and the agreed value is $12,800. The accessories total amount is that again and there is no way I could replace the basic vehicle for $12,800 let alone get half what I've already put into it.
I know insurance is a heart ache but does anyone know of a better insurance option.
It's taken me six years to get the car to wear I want it and if it got written off or stolen i don't think I'd buy another 4WD. I couldn't do it all again.

    Cheers,
    Nino.

    Hi,
I'm insured with Youi and have not had a claim yet. However when I changed over they were considerably cheaper. Last year I rang up as I thought they had bumped the price up a bit and talked to a helpful guy. To make the policy cheaper he changed the policy to nominate a value for the extras and market value for the vehicle. This lowered the premium but still pays out the extras at an agreed value in a total loss. I shop around each year and they still beat all the others. Cheers Rob

    Insurance

    Hi Nino,

Give shannons a call, I have my 88 classic insured with them for $16500.00 and cost me $600 a year, which is cheaper than the previous year with a different insurer and it was only insured for $5000.00 with them.

    Cheers,
    Matt

Here in Melbourne, I'm with Youi. Had a claim for a new windscreen after hail damage, and it was process quickly. I pay about $50/month for a MY12 Puma 90.

I am with TIO in the NT. I have a defender 130 - 300tdi 97 with quite a few accessories.
They have quoted the market value to be 15500 which I am pretty happy about considering I paid considerably less for it.
I didn't shop around however coz I wanted to get it insured ASAP and been too lazy to look to see if there is a better deal.

I thought that AAMI was pretty good. They did me a good deal on my 2013 90.

What ever company you select for your insurance, read were they state your pride & joy & your premium is covered off road!
There is no point allowing the sales person telling you it is covered, if not in writing, no point paying the policy.

More than likely if you are insured by one of the big boys, pull out your policy and find were its insured off road.

Sorry for been the fun Police
