    internal fire damage - 130 TD5

    Gday All,

Would you buy a internal fire damaged wreck 130. Damage is to the dash, passenger seat, roof lining, and fire extinguisher damage to the rest.

Roof, floor and firewall all seem ok as does the rest of the vehicle.

I would assume would need a full re-wire, not sure where the ECU is in a 130. Would the dash etc be hard to come buy, it has a air con compressor so would basically need a full interior.

Worth the effort of not ?

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers Ean

    Cost? What engine?

    And, uhmm, whereabouts?

Marko's stuff at Adelaide River of no interest? Going to the crushers otherwise. You got access to a twin axle trailer?

Basically, depends on what you want to do with it and how much you have to pay.

But if you are using it for anything except parts, the first thing is to find out for sure whether it has been written off! If it has been, you will never be able to register it.

If it has been written off get one of the damaged adf Isuzu defenders and make a bitsa using the adf chassis number, engine and the 130 chassis, body.

Its still in the hands of the insurer, but am told it will be classed as a repairable write off, looking at the car you wouldn't know it was damaged till you open the doors, (and smell the smoke of course ) . Looking at it, it basically needs a new interior plus re-wire. I don't know enough about defenders but they seem basic enough.

Not sure if the dash is just a case of unbolt and bolt another in, of course you need to have one to bolt in which am unsure if the are readily available. No visible damage to the firewall or roof (bubbling paint ) floor under the front mats is not damaged.

ECU would be under the drivers seat.
I'd take a punt on it

As the title say 130 TD5.... Didn't know Marko had any defenders. Yes I can get a twin axle car trailer.

Sorry, my mistake re the engine.

Not sure if there are defenders at Marko's. Some series vehicles though - don't know if the dashes would fit the Defender, if they still had them.

I was speaking to Dan (Dandylandy?) a couple of days ago. He is pulling a few vehicles out of Marko's, some to repair and some to part out - maybe worth talking to before you decide to buy the 130 - he has 29(?) vehicles - 2 of them running

I would be browsing a few sites like paddock spares tonight
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Would be dependent on $ TRS in Adelaide have plenty of dash units and ECUs but usually want a premium. There are stitched leather skins available on ebay. The dash is a very simple and quick change over compared to anything else. If you need an ECU you may also need the main loom?
Seat cover/ rebuild kits from Paddocks or Britcar. Cheap DIY and as close as perfect to factory.
