    Rijidij wheel carrier and bumperettes

I have Rijidij wheel carriers in transit for both the 90 and 110 at the moment and was looking at the Terrafirma bumperettes. I understand there can be issues with fitting various brands of bumperettes when you have a rear wheel carrier fitted as well as issues fitting to a 90 with rear mudflaps.

Are there any brands that will bolt straight on without any issues for both the rear wheel carrier and the 90 mudflaps?

From my research the Mulgo ones appear to be the only option for the wheel carrier.

I haven't fitted the bumperettes yet (to my 90 with Rijidij carrier and mud flaps), but my conclusion is the same as yours... Mulgo jobbies appear to be the best option. I won't be fitting mine for a few weeks but I'll update my build thread once done.

I am in the process of installing the Rijidij wheel carrier on my 90. I also have the Terrafirma bumperettes which I'll have to cut and reweld the right hand side one to make it fit next to the wheel carrier. At the time I was researching bumperettes, the only ones that would fit were the Mulgo ones. First four (or Shadow) did a set that had a shorter right hand one but it was only to fit a Mantec wheel carrier I think.

I have a rijidij carrier and mulgo bumper enters, no problems. Its a bit vague now, but consider carefully the adapter plates that are supplied with the bumperettes so it gets all aligned nicely, I think I managed to leave one out.
Sorry, can't help re the flaps
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

The situation is not too bad on the 110, but a biggish issue on the 90 with the Terrafirma Bumperettes without even considering the wheel carrier. They just don't work with the 90's OEM mudflaps, which is a bit daft because they come standard and I think the car looks bare without them (mudflaps that is). I do however personally prefer their look as they suit other accessories on my car, but I had to modify the mudflap brackets quite a bit to fit both.

    Cheers,

    Lou

I think I might wait on the bumperettes for a while.

I've seen the Terrafirma ones on a 90 and I like the look. I need some convincing regarding the Mulgo ones. I'm not a big fan of checkerplate so I'm not sure how much I want to fit them.

    Hi all,
I'll just clarify why only certain bumperettes will fit with the wheel carrier.

The wheel carrier mounts to the chassis using these holes............

The Mulgo Bumperette will fit as it only shares two holes with the carrier where they overlap..............

Other bumperettes like this one overlap too much with the carrier. It would not be too difficult to modify these to fit, but it's a shame to cut, weld and re paint something that's brand new.
They would need to be cut down in length so they cleared the stub axle, and the mounting bracket relocated so it uses the outer two holes.

Hope that helps make things clearer.

    Cheers, Murray

On a semi-related topic can someone help me out and tell me how far their spare now projects from the rear of the car after fitting the spare carrier? I'm interested in fitting one but have a very tight garage and can't bare to park the Defender out on the street just yet.

Mine is 375 mm from the door to the limit of the tyre. I have standard 235/85 R16 on the Defender.
