Wanted - test drive of 4x4 Perentie (with PAS) in Vic.

Hi all, SWMBO is looking at Land Rovers again, which is good news for me.

She likes the idea of a 4x4 Perentie, but it would need power steering. No big deal, I'll get that sorted if/when I find the right vehicle, but SWMBO wants to test drive one - preferably with power steering fitted, but that's not the end of the world, she really wants to feel what it's like to drive.

Anywhere in Melbourne or Western Vic sort of area.

    Thanks heaps - Gav

Just drive a Defender they would not be any different except for the noise level

Yes, I thought about that, but I want her to get the whole experience - camo paint and all. That way, if she says yes, then there are no comebacks later...

Wouldn't you want to sell her on a quieter Defender claiming its the same as the Perentie thus ensuring you get the wagon regardless?

Ok, got a lead from Brad at KLR about a Perenite that he fitted their PAS and turbo kit to here in Melbourne. Been chatting to the owner and we will be heading over for a test drive maybe in the next few weeks - he's just dropped it back to his Mechanic after a trip up the Canning stock route, but his Mechanic just had eye surgery so he has no idea how long it will be there now.

All good though, we will get there. The owner couldn't praise Brad and KLR enough about the work he did, so I'll give them another plug.

His exact words were - ' If you buy one, don't **** around, take it straight up there and get the power steering and turbo fitted - you won't regret it'

Will advise the outcome once we've been over there.

Hey Gav, one of mine has PAS but not Turbo the other std armstrong steering - good comparison, welcome to come up for a drive anytime.

Turbo would be good if you need the acceleration if not save your money but PAS is a huge improvement.

The guy who said same as a defender - wrong - heaps different to drive, different motor, different gearing, sit higher than a defender, no rear sway bars etc etc

    cheers
    Scott

Thanks Scott, I was going to call you as Mick mentioned he thought one of yours had PAS. Are they up in Ararat? Might do a road trip up there if I can get the time - I'm not sure how long this local one will be off the road for yet.

    Cheers.

We've got a really nice looking unit that's started work in our court (Clayton) just up from us. Now I have to see my dream every day
Haven't spoken to him yet, can't seem to catch him, but his workmates bag him out over it all the time apparently.

Everyone says that until they fit a turbo. Then they wish they had done it years earlier.

Agree on the rest. All the 2.x engines are completely different to drive due to the lack of torque right from idle that the isuzu has.
