If you're going to keep the vehicle long term, then I don't see it as an issue. I doubt you'd get your money back by doing these mods then trying to sell the unit on, but if we buy one, we will keep it. PAS and turbo upgrade will run to $8 and something K by the sound of it, a worthwhile investment IMO. I'll have a cracking LR that will last me years for under $20K. Good value IMO considering how well Defenders are holding their value.

You probably don't want to know how much I've spent on parts for the series 3 then if we're talking about over capitalising....
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Not necessarily. All depends how much work you are willing to do yourself. Less than $3k for all the parts to fit turbo and PAS.

Yes, but part of the deal with this one is that it isn't a project, so if I buy one for SWMBO, it will get shipped straight to KLR for the mods.

Yes, I could do it myself, but in this case I won't be. KLR's turbo kit is very well sorted, and I have waaaaay too much on my plate to worry about this job - if it even happens.

Hmmm was only having a stir! 😊
Is there anyone more local to you that could do it instead of having to send it all that way?

Well, as I've beenin Corowa for a week, surrounded by great vehicles - including Perenties, the inevitable had to happen. Struck up a conversation with the owner of a very well kitted out GS Perentie that has the KLR power steering conversion on it.

A deal was struck - SWMBO can take the Perentie for a drive in return for him getting a fang of the 101 - DONE!

So, a very nervous start to proceedings sees SWMBO carefully idling it out of the caravan park onto the road. With a little instruction 'Give it some welly' off she goes. Went for a run around town and by the time we got back, there was a very wide grin on her face and 'That's really cool - just get me one, no problems' and 'well, if I can't beat them, I'll join them'

Soooo, the L322 will be prepared for sale and the wheels will be in motion to procuring a 4x4 GS. Should get enough from the sale of the L322 to do this, but I can tip some extra in if needed depending on what is found.

So, next year, we will have 2 ex Military vehicles to bring to Corowa.

    What a result!
