Really depends on what disco, trans and year and how much fun you want to have.

I was going to say the same. The 4L60E will **** itself from what I could gather. You can already get T700 to LT230 kits.

I looked and looked at doing that, in the end I went down the path of upgrading to the 4.6 cammed as it ended up an easier job and you can get the jag supercharger for it which bolts straight on. If I do that then I will have to up grade the auto with all the stronger bits out of the ZF4HP24 box into my ZF4HP22. Should hold up (I think)
Then I will have spent the deposit of a house on a car that if I sold would be worth umm well not a lot, but hell I am having fun with it.

there is an auto mob here in Oz that does strengthened 4L80E boxes with reduced gearing for 4x4's around, I cant remember the mob anymore but they did a box for about 4k from memory

If you are upgrading the Rover V8, then the 4HP24EH is rated to just under 500Nm standard, where the 22 is rated to 380Nm. The 22 upgraded to 24 spec still isn't what the 24 is as there are more parts that are reinforced than just the carry over clutchs etc, and more often than not it seems that its only 3rd and 4th gear clutches that come across into the 22 from the 24.

the trouble is the 24 is electronic and I am trying to keep that to a minimum. As the cost to do the electronic conversion from what I understand is prohibitive
