    Puma Defender Fuel Gauge

Does the new Defender still have a VDO fuel gauge or did they changed to a different brand?

    Cheers,
    Daniel

I'm not sure who makes it but there isn't a seperate gauge as such, it's intergrated into the binnacle. (LR have the same basic binnacle accross the range now).

Yes, it is combined with the water temp display - VDO has done both of them, when they were still separate displays in the past for LR.

It's fully integrated with the instrument console. There is a CANbus interface to this and one signal on the bus is fuel level which is supplied to the console unit from the fuel sender unit in the tank. The entire console unit is linked to the car configuration file data stored in the ECM.

    thanks for that.

This probably means that it will not be possible to hook up another fuel sender unit for an aux tank to this same display. (with a switch to choose which tank to display.)

dont ask how i found out
and yes it was at the worse possible time in a mass intersection

Easy to hook up an additional sender to the fuel display in pre-Puma Defenders. But seems to be a challenge for the new ones.
