Do you have a pyro and is you engine stock or fueled up ?
Did you read my reply to Jim621/Steves post ?
Have you researched EGT limits and where they should be measured ?

Isuzu recommend a 750* limit for the 4BD1T, 720 isn't unreasonable in a 300Tdi for a very short space of time, but i wouldn't want to run an engine there for minutes at a time.

Our TD42T has done well in excess of 320,000km on the original clutch, and it spent most of it's life either hauling crap around the farm or towing horses to Sydney and back.
It's only the last couple of years (since leaving the land and then EI) it's had an easier life.
I'm amazed you've got that many miles,we had seven of them back at Machinery Maintenance at Singleton and none of them got anywhere near that. Pat

Max boost at the moment is only 16psi, but with the stock intercooler my egts easily reach 720deg on hills with a little too much throttle. (Only takes a tiny bit less fuel to drop egts 50deg or so) That said, I am hardly ever at full boost. Normal acceleration around town 13-14psi, 100kmh crusing around 9-10psi @ 440degrees.

I think uprated intercoolers can drop egt's around 40degrees? That would help me out, then I could safely boost 18psi with a bit more fuel and keep max egts where they are now.

Can I ask where you got your intercooler from and how much? I was looking at changing my grille and putting a front mount in, but it looks like a big PITA. With auto and a/c there are coolers and condensers and stuff everywhere! The allisport direct replacements and the like easiest option but they are around $600.
If you are towing going to larger tyres isn't going to help unless you change the gearing to suit, there is a thread on here about a couple of members towing a RRC up to Sydney from down south and they used a modded Disco that did the job comfortably, try chasing the thread up and the owner about the mods done.It was quite impressive from memory. If you complained about cracked chassis......

So let me get this right, you have a 400,000,000km old LR, that never has a problem and a TD42T that was a heap of crap? are you sure you haven't got the badges on the wrong car?

Six of the seven we had cracked the chassis behind the cab,Komatsu at Mt Thorley had ALL there field service Patrols crack the chassis after fitting workshop bodies,My defender has 428,000k's and I've changed the clutch and steering box,at 400,000K I changed the uni's and tie rod ends and injectors and two indicator stalks but fitted Drivesafes headlight kit so don't plain on changing any more,it spent a night bum end in a creek and that buggered one of the wheel bearings,a few globes have blown but thats about it.I did have trouble when it was new caused by dealer dickheads and I lost my brakes after it was serviced at Graeme Coopers,I almost forgot it needed the alternator replaced at Bischino in Tasmania, the rear bearing failed which is common.Since new it has had it's oil done at 10K,greased every second changed and all the fliuds, cooling system changed every year and it's been on a truck once after the dealer changed the timeing belt that flew off 10km's down the road. With the Patrols Nissan undercut Toyota to get into the mines and sold heaps of them,12 months later most were traded on cruisers and Hunter Valley Operations bought a dozen 130 Td5's that honestly gave very good service. We are way of thread here rovercare!!!. Yep, cracked chassis is common as on them, the Nissan vs Tojo thing, I'm aware of a few studies, that show the Tojo to be a far better lease vehicle, considering large purchase price, but far less dowtime due to reliability, so that's what they have in the open cut mines here

Hmm 25psi, I wonder what this VNT turbo is efficient to
