I'd settle for 5 with one around .9
Bloody good question though Blythe![]()
has anyone looked to see if a Ford six speed ZF will fit between the 4.6 and the transercase? or the jag box from the super charged V8?
I have been toying with the idea of upgrading to the ZF4HP24E box, then I started to think well if I am going to that extent why use an old 4 speed when there are much more powerful six speed ZF boxes out there on the market?
eventually I am going to fit a supercharger to it once I have finished all the other bits that I am currently sorting out, so a stronger box with more gears is an obvious choice, but I am stimyed by my lack of internet searching ability to find out more information regarding this.

with the (idle )torque converter lockup "feature"maybe a slightly lower 1st would help,,,,,

ok so ZF in their small autos go up to a ZF6HP32 (or 34 out later this year) they are used behind the VW V10 and the BMW 760 V12 they are rated as a high torque auto and the 34 is a higher rated torque box.
still havent found out if they are the same as the flash FPV fords but i would think they are.
I found a heap of info the internet dropped out and I havent found the site again but I will keep looking
here is a lead FixEuro.com - Freddie's Transmission Service - ZF 6HP32
It'd be interesting. The current Rovers use the ZF 6 speed. I'm not sure if the V8 bolt pattern is difference.

Might be a silly question : would these be electronically controlled boxes and if they are how do they get controlled when they are retrofitted? Is there a black box that controls them which you feed a signal to or the like? Was thinking the box could be another area for managing fuel consumption on the thirsty rover motors.
As silly as it sounds, there is a possibility that this may be the case. I thought that there were some ISO patterns for bellhousings etc.
But it also wouldn't surprise me if they have used a different bellhousing from the old Rover patterns (leading into an ISO pattern) due to the torque capacity that would be required in the torque converter.
