The adjustable main jet is essential. Its also very sensitive to small changes in adjustment. The Stromberg sits a bit taller than the other carbs and you may need to modify the inlet elbow slightly with a hammer to clear the bonnet.
Thanks Mark, I've rummaged around in the workshop and found two old Stromys that a freind had given me some time back. One is stamped 1and 3/32" and the other is 1 and 7/32". I can see the need to modify the air cleaner-to-carby inlet elbow (I'll probably leave the hammer in the toolbox though). The Solex, is about 165mm high (including the insulator block), whereas the Stromys are 200mm high (including an adaptor). Cheers, Harry
