    Who likes bananas?

Well today i had a bit of a close call with a rock ledge, a ledge i can usually scramble up (in the dry) but today in the wet clay i wasnt so lucky. In the dry, i can keep my chosen line and miss the big rock, but when wet its a slippery sliding affair and you go wherever the clay sends you!
Basically ive bent my rear driveshaft quite well, a bit like a banana, hence the thread title. So now i need a new one. I thought i might aswell upgrade to a stronger one if the price is close to a genuine item. I do have a photo but dont know how to upload it on here. Iv read a lot about upgrading the front shaft, but its unharmed.
So my question is who has upgraded the rear shaft and where did you get it from? Rough prices etc...
I think the correct part number for my defender (2001 110 extreme) is FTC3905.
    Thanks nayto

Give Hardie Spicer a ring, they should have what you want.

After lashing out and buying a rear driveshaft from QT that was listed to fit my model Defender and supplied with wide angle GKN uni Uni joints.Only to find that it was too long for my model, and that they would only take it back if I paid return freight.I took it to the local driveshaft guy,who looked at it and told me that the uni joints were made in Turkey and were just passable quality, and that the slide joint was made in India and was poor quality and that they don't tend to last long.So I had him shorten the shaft so that it will at least fit. Will get him to make a complete heavy duty shaft with Hardy Spicer joints and slide, when this one is worn. Was Quoted $700

Thanks fella, i dont know who QT is but ill steer clear of them then. My first choice was Hardie Spicer, i looked them up online and they dont have Landrover in the catalogue.....but yes i will ring them as i know they can make them to suit anything.
I will also get a price from Karcraft or similar for a price on a genuine one. $700 is a bit steep for me at the moment.

Ah ok then, yeh i definately wont be geting any parts from OS. The standard one seems quite flimsy, but then again they arent supposed to have half the weight of a 110 smashed onto them either

I took CraigE's advice and took it to Hardie Spicer today, theyre reusing the slip joint because its still in good nick, and retubing it with some heavy wall stuff, new unis, and balanced etc for $260. 2 day turnaround, i was happy with that.
