It is my understanding, MR don't just swap out the harnesses, the new ones are modified by the wires being resin filled into a plug to stop the progression of oil along the harness, and a perm fix.

Looks like I will still have to keep an eye on it

the solution on the MR harness is having the head of the injector plug removed, filled with a sealastic and the having the cap put back on forcing the sealastic to extrude along the wires sealing the plug.

so far I havent had first hand experience of one of these harnesses not doing its thing.

Yes MR fill the plug with a silicone substance of some sort so the oil doesn't make its way down the wires. They certainly seem to think it is a permanent fix, I have not heard of anybody who has evidence that it is not. Mine was not replaced by them, but was filled with silicone when it was still very new by MR, the harness that is, not the Defender.

    Cheers, Mick.

I don't understand why a mastic gun isn't part of the genuine tool kit.

This tip was passed on to me by a Guru down my way.
He's been doing it for a while with no "come backs" so time will tell.

I have had this problem very sparodically since owning the vehicle last April, but yesterday it had the problem almost non stop from Narrabri to Ipswich. I had filled it with fuel at Coonabarabran, (about 100kms before Narrabri) and stopped overnight at Narrabri. Can anyone enlighten me on what the problem may be?

    Thanks in advance, Mick.
again injector seals may be leaking.

Mick I can bring my Nanocom to the pub meet on thursday if you want to try and read any codes again?
Have to agree with Pete here, mine still runs like crap (when it runs ) coz there is so much oil in the main loom. I have to give it a clean every week, with some contact cleaner.

MR looked at it a year ago when I first had the problem, they couldn't track it down at the time (it didn't play up for them), I am not sure if they checked out the injector seals or not, I will look into it.

    Cheers, Mick.

No sign of oil coming through the loom.
