Alloy cleaning have a look at my pics

Doing a head replacement on Mums car( not Landy) but thought I'd share some pics of an easy clean.
Sorry I didn't take the before pics of the oil stain gum on the inside, but if you have a look at the 1st of the pics there are a couple of black stains left.

It took about an hour. I later did the valve springs, hydrauilc lifters. Everything was covered in brown gum
the wonder drug was. 50% Chemtech 14 degreaser and 50 % Turps in a spray bottle. sprayed on let it sit for a couple of mins then used an old tooth brush and gave it a quick brushing, the stuff just started falling off, and not being corrosive like some degreasers it works a treat on alloy.
I was pretty impressed so thought I'd show it here. when it was finished I then soaked it quickly in a 1 part to 100 parts water and hosed off.

Yep I'm with Blknight.....I've restored a few old motorbikes and the dishwasher will degrease steel and alloy bits a treat. The trick is to run a 'heavy' wash so the rinse cycle is longer than normal for the alloy bits.

Once done, I run the dishwasher empty with 1 of the cleaning packs and it's right as rain - and just as clean with no smell or residual grunge!

I can just imagine what my dishwasher would say if I told her to degrease a cylinder head!
