the bits under the plate i'd just paint with rust covertor.
sorry i cant help with the rest
Hello all,
I need to advice on removing some rust from my Haflinger project.
First ever rebuild so lots of new things to learn.
(101847.blogspot.com if you want to see some photos from the restoration)
Ok so here we go
Here I have some rust which has formed under the ID plates.
these are maybe 1-2mm deep. lead wipe or body filler? MIG?
I have always been told that body filler is fishy but I have never actually used any.
I want to remove the dimples so water doesn't sit there and cause rust in the future.
bellow is a rib with rust that I will probably mig to remove the holes. any other suggestions?
I could cut and replace but I don't have access to any haflinger bodies. anyone know of any other cars that would have 2mm thick sheet with the same profile?
Thanks for any help and advise.

My mate did a lot of little rust spot like in the top pic with solder, I have always used body filler. For the second one, get a profile gauge, then set the gauge against the shape required and then take it to a sheet metal shop and have the piece made. Some times you need to join a few different profiles together to make the new section. I never used sections out of old cars a most often they had signs of damage\rust also.
Cheers
