you guys that are using it and having the squeel come back..

are you letting the stuff setup for a couple of hours before you put the pads back in or applying and installing?

Had squealing brakes on my D1 for years, does my wifes head in. It does annoy me sometimes.

We went to Fraser Is over Xmas last year, 2009, and since then they have not made a noise. Pads and disks all looking good, maybe the silica content of the sand did something? Wife does not care what happend, she is just happy they no longer squeal.

When Chris at Hard Rover serviced the Defender he suggested a good blast with the hosepipe to remove accumulated dust.
    Yet to try it???

Yep, but the piston just pushes through it under hard braking after a while so they are directly bearing on the backing plate.

The Ferodo pads i use have an anti-squeal backing from the factory and the same thing happens.

Often a good de-glaze of the pad and rotor will do this, so I'd reckon you're right.
