out the exhaust pipe as black smoke.
My question is ?
i have a TD5 d2
if you dont have enough air flow entering your engine and a large amount of diesel swirting in via the injectors....air is required for combustion so with low air flow only a percentage of that diesel is been used where does the excess diesel go (i might be using the wrong words as combustion is many used for petrol) engines
regards kelvin

fair enough
but could the large amount of excess wash the pots and drip into the engine oil
yes, that seems to happen when the head leaks fuel around the TD5 injectors.
Diesel engines work by compressing air and fuel is added right at the last lilli second at tdc.
what is not burned goes out the valve via the exhaust and is the black unburnt smoke.![]()
No that's done by leaking injector seals.![]()
If you inject huge amounts of diesel it will smoke horribly and slow right down but it is unlikely to pass the rings.
would this still happen with good injector seals or only injector seals which have had there day
as on sunday i had air flow issues ,which leads me to the suspision that this could result in my pots been washed in diesel therefore having a diesel wiff in the oil ,dropped the oil today to be on the safe side and have fixed my airflow issues ,i have one of these new 2 way adjustable maf /boost boxes and had the airflow set way to low
assuming that the injectors are patterning correctly its smoke.
if an injector is not patterning correctly and is dribbling or hosing the fuel in a stream instead of a spray you could concievably wind up with dieso washing past the rings but youd also get a horrid miss that would go away when the engine gets some revs up and come back off of idle.
if your getting diesel dilution of the oil its the injector seals leaking. Stop driving before it does a run away on you.
