center diff lock vacuum leak, help!

Did this one get resolved? i am thinking i have a similar issue with my RRC, had the CDL engaged driving up at stockton dunes on the weekend, when we pulled up i noticed a hissing noise (vacuum leak?) definately coming from the CDL push pull lever and after trying to cover it and some forwards and backwards the diff lock light remained on.. but light went out a few k's down the road.. if it is a leak is it an easy fix?
i posted earlier when the problem first appeared, but just getting around to fixing it, got a 2nd hand push/pull vacuum lever from all4x4 spares.

before - lever pushed = hissing all the time
after - lever pushed and pulled = hissing
but.. if lever is halfway hissing stops..
the guy at all4x4 said it was off on old series
all vacuum hoses were put on exactly as i took them off
is the switch i just bought cactus as well, or am i doing something wrong??!?!

sorry about the long winded question but i think it might be important to get this working..

I Thougt the Center diff lock activating device was a switch ? (on a 77RRC)Its pushed and pulled ? usually pulled up to engage and pushed down to dis-engage .(sending a vac signal to the actuator) Whats this lever ? its almost if your suggesting that your push-pulling the high-low TCase lever ?Lever halfway and it stops . seems strange if you were referring to the button ,as there really isnt a half way position . Could be nothing wrong with the switch/button , could be just vac line problem (holed, fallen off.melted on exhaust etc etc) or a holed diaphragm at the actuator .

Try some rubber grease lube on the "O" rings, maybe dry and not sealing, Regards Frank.

    Just needs the thumb/tongue test!

Put thumb over incoming vac feed, does it stick to your thumb? if so, feed is ok, then hook feed to vac switch, then stick thumb over line that vac is feeding to? try opposite line? if all is good, stick some line on the actuator diaphragm, suck in on the hose with your mouth, stick you tongue over the hose whilst under vacuum, does it stick? then try opposing line
