    Bullbar Repair

Over the Easter Weekend I had the misfortune to slip off a narrow muddy track and ended up colliding with a tree at about 5-10kph.

My bullbar did an admirable job in protecting the car and I was able to drive away from the scene but now there is quite a sizeable dent in in the bullbar (right next to the winch) as well as it being a little bit bent.

Rather than going straight for the replace option, I was wondering if anyone has had a bullbar repaired and what the end result was like. Are there any pitfalls to getting the bullbar repaired (ie will the structural integrity be compromised etc?) and are there any specialist repairers people can recommend in the Sydney area?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Not quite the same but i bought a bent arb bar for my old rangie and one of the bolt holes wouldnt line up, so i just wrapped a snatch strap to it and around a nice big gum and in low range reverse pulled until it was straight and then slid the bolt in . A little bit of sledge work prior and it was all good.

Most repairers won't touch an ADR compliant bullbar, if that is what you have. The only people normally licensed to repair such a bar, are those that made it in the first place. I have used this argument ( in reverse ) to get replacement bullbars out of insurance companies.
It all depends on the bar you have.

    What vehicle?

    Do you have airbags?

Is the bar steel or alloy?

If it is say a Disco with airbags, steel ARB bar, you can get new crush c.

If you can post some more info and pics we can probably help more!ans through ARB if there is any concern they have been impacted. (Look under the front at the mounts for a concertina section, they should be spaced evenly)

If Steel go for it. If it is alloy repairs are generally much harder and bending the alloy back risks the alloy cracking, not to mention the reduction in strength

    Interesting thread -

I have a bullbar that has been damaged by another party - they are claiming that it will be repaired to industry standards - does anyone know what this actually means?

Its an ARB winchbar, non airbag - my understanding of metal is once its been bent, it looses some of its strength so bending it again will further reduce its strength and it will no longer be the same as original. Yes there is a winch mounted and it does get used.

I've spoken to ARB and they said to replace it.
