Get the correct one and don't succumb to bodge mentality. They don't cost much, and you do want it to work properly.
I doubt that the throttle end arrangement for a Ford would be the same as required for a Bosch VE throttle lever.

which ford kickdown cable fits a zf auto is something i am neeeding to know i have seen it posted that they do but nowhere do i find which one it is if some one could shed some lihght on this it would be wonderful as mines a mess previous owner has tried to repair it by joining it he has bent the bracket at the deisle pump and the cable is all hanging out so it is in permanant kickdown i think
she wont change up till 3000 rpm and from 1st to second and to 3rd seems to have excessive engine braking and as soon as i hit 80 klm it drops into 4th and locks the trans in one move dropping the revs to 2000 and i loose all acceleration til it crawls past 90
i am hoping the cable will sort it all out

I can't remeber which Ford kickdown cable I used, my son had it fitted when he owned my Disco, I can't get hold of him at the moment, but I seem to recall that it was an EFI engine Ford Falcon, it wasn't a "Bodge" job as suggested and has worked without problem for over 2 years now and it was fraction of the price of the ZF one, I will get back to you, Regards Frank.
I think it was from the xf, correct me if im wrong
Good to hear that no changes have to be made to the cable ends/terminations, so that adjustments are exactly as with OEM, and if the lengths are the same (+ or -), what a bonus - that's what I was referring to as "bodge mentality".

Rod my son thinks the cable is from a XF Borg Warner 3 speed auto and I rang the Bloke that installed it and he thinks it was also, the auto bloke recommends taking your old cable in to an Auto box repairer and matching length and fittings, which is what my son did, price was about 1/4 the price of the original and they were identical, hope this gets you sorted, Regards Frank.
i know what you mean
the factory cable is bodged beyond use
