General maintenance of 2008 Defender (2.4 Puma Engine): what oils and fluids to use?

After reading through the owners manual and the oils and fluids required when inspecting levels in general weekly maintenance, I've not been able to find the specific products locally.

Anyone able to recommend worthy substitutes (engine oil, brake, clutch and gearbox, and coolant)?

Not sure about Oz, but in SA & EU, the engine oil is the Castrol Magnatec A1 Professional 5w30 (ACEA A5/B5) that conforms to the Ford spec Ford WSS-M2C-913-B.

A list of other oils that meet the specs: Ford Engine Oil - WSS-M2C 913-B

Brake fluid - you can use any good Dot4 fluid

    Clutch- not sure

Coolant - I keep a bottle of Castrol premix in the car at all times.

Gearbox - Castrol BOT 130 M, usually available at the dealers. Or any other reputable 75w90 GL4 oil should do

Hi Jethro - if you do a search here on PUMA and oil change you will find a couple of threads about which engine oil to use (as recommended by Castrol). In Australia they supply something called OE Professional (from memory) but do a search and you will find the proper designation.

Not sure if they still use the OAT coolant like the TD5's but someone will hopefully be along soon with some info for you.

    Cheers
    David

This is the only post I could find on coolant and the PUMA. Looks like it too uses OAT: Defender2 - View topic - Texaco XLC Antifreeze.

Also having had the power steering hose let go in the middle of nowhere it's worth getting the power steering fluid from the dealer as it's hard to find in the bush.
