Thread: What did you do on your Landy today?

New steering damper today, after 16yrs the original one died.

Fitted my Lightforce 240 blitz spotties and then tried them out at work, got bogged then used my new winch and pulled myself out.. Was a fun 12 hour night shift on the railways. Now i have to wash it so i can see out the windows.

Modded 2 x door hinges. 1 snapped the hinge pin when wife opened the door. Is a pia job and definitely not a 10 minute job as highlighted on other forums. The first was easy to access the pin as the pin sheared, leaving circlips almost welded onto the hinge. These had to be ground off. Not easy to drill out the pins either as there is also a sleeve and even in a drill press when the bit hits the sleeve it throws the allignment off. Who said you just punch the pins out??? It appears the ends of the pins maybe hard faced as it was a nightmare to get the drill started.
Used 70mm Cap screw bolts and tapped in a helicoil (both 6mm) into the lower section, covered in anti seize. 2 done, 6 to go. Took best part of 5hrs to do 2. Not sure if it is going to be a permanent fix or just a temporary one. Will see how these 2 go for a while.
Now to track down the RH tail light power supply fault. Somewhere in the chassis harness. Aux fuel tank will have to come out to track this down.
Lighter near by if needed.

checked the oil and water and took my 71 W/S (Oh yeah, and Nan ) to lunch.

Removed cat and engine pipe, fitted De-Cat pipe from Rova Craft, fabricate new brackets to re-fit heat shields.

Now see those pescky EGT fall....

Renewed rear brake pads on the P38

fitted a cdl set up similar to hendricks and it works ( well on the nature strip) so hopefully it will do the same tomorow at nerrum.tony, sorry no pics as the camera was out at a party
