I washed my baby over the weekend, an annual event, and then got to cleaning out the dust from two major dusty trips.
    She almost looks new again

Replaced the starter motor on the D1, not sure if last weekends mud bath was the last straw for it?

Also replaced the positive cable from the main battery to the starter with a nice long one as it ran a bit to close to the extractors. Re routed it around the edge of the engine bay and along the fire wall.

Then gave it a full pressure clean from top to bottom, even degreased and washed the engine bay. Disconnected the batteries and covered all the touchy bits.
Then removed water from the dizzy etc and let her dry for about 4 hrs. Still stuttered about when I started her up.
Now there's an extra half ton of mud in my driveway

Finished fitting the rear A-frame ball joint in the Disco.
Only managed to hit my head and skin my knuckles a few times, so not too bad.
Good thing is, all the loud knocks and clunks in the rear are now gone.

Now it's, wait and see what the 20 something year old beasty wants fixed next.

turned a quick job into a long one lol

Yesterday I pulled the manifold and rocker covers off. This arv I overhauled the rockers, what a nightmare. Previous owner must've hated the poor old boy. Not only were both rocker shafts clogged with something solid, I can only liken to bakelite, but the rockers themselves clogged and the drivers side (where the noisy lifter is) looks like it was all thrown together in a hurry. Not one of the rockers was opposing it's neighbor, but they were all on arse-about. Hello restricted oil flow!

Now they've been cleaned and reassembled, they're ready to go back on, but not before I pull the heads and lap the valves. That's tomorrow's job, new lifters should be here in two weeks :-D
