Two Weeks ago, Saturday:
Went down to Triumph Rover Spares and found a rear door from a TD5 with a lot less structural rust, planning to cut bits out of the frame to repair the existing one on the County.
Last Sunday: Took the old door off and decided to try just fitting the TD5 door onto the County. Turned out it was actually straighter than the original thanks to the previous owner sensibly fitting a tyre carrier.
Hooked up the wiper and demister, refitted the door card then wrote an email to TRS asking if I could get the strike plate for the newer anti-burst latch off of the same wreck.
Tuesday: Received the strike plate in the post so went about fitting it and the newer latch after work. Needed to swap the lock barrels but didn't have the key for the newer one which is necessary for taking the barrel out. Managed to pick the lock in about 20 seconds with a flat-head screw driver and a pit of wire. Never leaving my GPS in the car ever again
