So I've dropped her off at Discovery Auto in Perth to technically fix an oil and exhaust leak... Oh and to check the cooling system!
But while she's there ... Sure let's stroke her to a 4.6l, change the cam, performance exhaust to make her breath and remap the ECU... It's going to be a long month... But excited on the other side

Also fitted the Ironman awning we kept when we traded the Disco. Found a way to drill holes in the bottom of the roofrack channel and fit the bolts and receivers so we were able to keep the rubber cover on top and use it to hide the bolts. Looks much neater. Also put a deep cycle battery I had on the new Ark battery box and put it on to charge. Going camping tomorrow on a relative's property but the forecast is rain so may have to engage low range and get the shiny Defender dirty for the first time. Should be fun.

Did some more on assembling the 2A engine and removed the ring gear from the flywheel, cleaned it up with a light touch of the angle grinder. As I intended to turn it over when I replaced it, I had to cut leading edges on all of the teeth. That done, put it in the outdoor gas cooker to warm it up and expand it, then refitted it.

Discovered that Clark Rubber has square rubber knobs similar to the rectangular ones missing from some bottom seals on the doors at the front, which are letting in light and dust, so bought two, got home and glued them in place, then realised I needed a third. At 80 cents each its a quick fix.
Clark's also has various door seal strips, so that might be the next project for even better sealing, especially on the rear door which is still rattling a bit despite the spare wheel having been moved off onto the new rear wheel carrier.

Installed a Traxide 160 in the Defender today, linked to an Arkpak in the back. Thanks AndyG. Once the drawers go in the battery position will become permanent as I'd like to get drawers with space for a battery in a cavity at the back, behind the drawer, but for now its just strapped down. Once its permanent I will run plugs to it for a fridge and for cigarette and USB connections. Planning to put an AGM in there. Then the ArkPak will be used as a third battery or as a portable battery for camping. The wish list also includes a solar panel on the roof rack, once I get the roof rack I want. So many ideas, not enough money.

Finishing off after doing head gaskets on my 2003 V8 Disco, joy oh joy water pump weeping from small hole above inlet. Wasn't doing that before, bugga, time to replace waterpump now. So let's look at other jobs, 230k do I do injectors, leads, clean Maf and map, think O2 sensors aswell, any advice appreciated
Actually I didn't do it but had Darren at Aztech Eng here in Perth do it for me.
Filling up a week ago and noticed fuel pouring out from under the car. Bugger! Nipped off home a bit smart and looking underneath could see it was coming from the top of the original fuel tank not the auxillary in the right hand wing.
Checked it out on this and other forums and saw it could well be the hose leading into the tank so called Darren and he fixed it. Much easier if you don't have to lay on your back with a bloody fuel tank on the chest!:p
The original breather hose had split and when the fuel got over the top out it came. Managed to save some 70 odd litres by decanting from the aux tank into a bucket then into jerries and she's now back fixed for ever.....

Drove from Yass to home in the County with four kids and two dogs - and non-functioning aircon. It is still 33C here! (Tried to get it fixed last week - no interest in work until mid January!)
